Most Americas like drinking coffee every day in the morning. This is a proven fact just by the number of companies that have made huge businesses off the industry like Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Keurig and Green Mountain just to name a few. But there are also health benefits of coffee itself. I am not a doctor but here are the few things I have read and heard.

Lowered risk of Type 2 Diabetes

From what I have heard drinking coffee every day can help lower your risk of Type 2 diabetes by 22%

Protects Against Liver Cancer

Researchers found that coffee consumption lowers the risk of liver cancer by around 40%.

Fights Mouth Cancer

In 2012 researchers found a link between coffee and a reduced risk of reported cases of oral cancer.

Helps with Heart Health

People who drink moderate amounts of coffee each are at an 11% lower risk of heart failure than those who did not.

Fights Depression

In a Harvard study published in 2011, people who drank 4 or more cups of coffee per day had a 20% lower risk of becoming depressed

May Lower Stroke Risk

Some studies also show that drinking coffee may lower the risk of a stroke by 20%

Lowered risk of Alzheimer’s disease

There is considerable evidence that caffeine may protect against Alzheimer’s disease.

May Protection against Parkinson disease

Newer research out of Sweden revealed that drinking coffee reduces the risk of Parkinson’s even when genetic factors come into play.

Helps with Headaches

Drinking a strong coffee of coffee when you have a headache can help it go away faster as coffee is a natural way to get over a headache.

Rich in Antioxidants

Coffee is high in antioxidants. Studies show that many people get more antioxidants from drinking coffee than from fruits and vegetables combined.

  1. Does loving the smell of coffee have any benefits? haha. I love the smell hate the taste, but I had no idea that is helps with live and mouth cancer! I think I need to working on the acquired taste thing!

  2. Wow, I did not know coffee had so many benefits! It makes me pretty jittery, but I love the taste enough to drink decaf every day.

  4. I live off of coffee. I’m pretty sure my blood type, at this point, is pikes place or Colombian roast, so I really don’t NEED any more reasons to drink coffee, but if you’re telling me there are health benefits then I’ll take I know there are certainly health benefits of me drinking coffee for everyone else around me lol. But seriously, great article. I use coffee as a low level form of self medication for my ADHD and my depression. It helps to keep me focused as well as to boost my mood.

  5. Wow I didnt know coffee had all of these benefits. I think as long as your coffee doesnt have too much sugar the benefits will marinate.
